Favorites of 2013 + An Announcement

With the beginning of 2014, this blog is going to be undergoing a makeover! Most notably, the name is going to be changing (permanently this time). Turtles and Pearls was a perfect fit for me when I was an undergrad, but as I've gotten older, it just doesn't describe me anymore. Starting tomorrow, my little corner of the blogging world will have a new name, one that is very fitting for a fashion lover and future pharmacist, Prescription for Preppy! In addition, I'll soon be moving to a new URL (but I'll be taking some of my favorite old posts with me). I hope you'll follow along with me as I make some changes that reflect my current stage in life a little better.

What better way is there to end a year than to recap some of my favorites of 2013? Here are a few of my favorite outfits, Instagram posts, and blog posts.

Thanks for following along in 2013. I can't wait to hear about what 2014 will hold for each and every one of you.
Happy New Year!

A Year in Review {2013}

If I had to sum 2013 up in a few words, it would be that the year was full of change. Some of these changes were quite obvious, but others were a lot more subtle.

In 2013, I started classes for my Master of Public Health, which turned out to be a huge undertaking when combined with pharmacy school. I got my hair chopped off for the first time in years, completed my first of many pharmacy rotations, and worked more hours than I care to think about. I traveled to Gatlinburg with my friends for Spring Break and to the Outer Banks with my family for one crazy week of vacation. I made new friends, rekindled old friendships, and started a new relationship with a guy who is nothing short of amazing. Throughout the year, I learned a lot about myself and what it really takes to be happy.

I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to 2013 and ringing in a new year.With the start of 2014, this little blog is going to be going through a lot of changes. Make sure to check back tomorrow for a recap of my favorites of 2013, as well as more details on the changes that are coming!

Five on Friday {After Christmas Edition}

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, spent lots of time with family, and opened up a fun gift or two. This holiday week has been nothing short of crazy busy, so it's no surprise that my Five on Friday for this week ended up being just a little bit random.

{one} I'm holding The Blog Baton on Instagram today and I hope you'll take a minute to check it out. I'll be uploading snapshots all day long. If you want to find out more about The Blog Baton, check out this post from the baton's creator, Mason. You can follow along @theblogbaton. While you're there, make sure to follow along with my personal Instagram, @lindsey_erin2, too.

{two} Tomorrow is one of the biggest days of the year...for basketball fans in Kentucky, at least. Kentucky takes on Louisville and tensions are definitely running high. I was raised to cheer for UL, but after five years at UK, my allegiance has definitely shifted (my parents are only slightly upset). Go Cats!

{three} Since I've been away for so long, I've missed out on quite a few Friday's Fancies. Last's week's theme was cozy, so I'm being fashionably late and joining in this week. I definitely associate being cozy with staying warm, so I created a look that will be sure to keep you warm on even the coldest of days. A Barbour jacket has been on my wish list for quite some time and I think I need to take the plunge and invest in one soon. If you want to see other cozy looks from last week, make sure to check out {long distance loving}.

{four} I got a lot of great Christmas presents from my friends and family this year, but I wanted to share just one of my favorites. These monogrammed rain boots from Lands' End are currently on sale for $29.99 and are even cuter in person than on screen. My mom did a great job picking them out! The navy on navy will match just about anything and I can't wait for a rainy day so I can take them for a spin. (Tip: use Scotchgard on the canvas part to keep them from getting dirty.)

{five} Since I have some time off, I'm searching for a book to read and would love some recommendations. What books have you read and loved recently?

Have a great weekend!
